LAWgic is a project built to demonstrate how AI can make legal information easier to access, understand, and act on. The idea was simple: create a legal assistant that could help users research statutes, understand major legislative transitions, and draft common legal documents through a modern chat interface.
What made the project interesting was the balance between usefulness and restraint. Legal AI cannot just feel smart; it has to be careful, readable, and trustworthy. That shaped both the backend workflow and the frontend experience.
The Problem
The Indian legal system is large, formal, and constantly evolving. For many users, even basic questions can require navigating old and new legal frameworks, comparing provisions, or understanding procedural language that is not designed for everyday readers.
At the same time, most generic AI chat experiences are not built for legal work. They often lack structure, context control, clear presentation, and a design that supports long-form reading or document-oriented tasks.
LAWgic was built to solve that gap by combining AI-assisted legal research with a focused interface for drafting and explanation.
What LAWgic Does
LAWgic is designed as an AI-powered judiciary advisory chatbot for the Indian legal context. It supports:

- Structured legal transitions such as IPC → BNS, CrPC → BNSS, and Evidence Act → BSA.

The research layer is built to help users move from vague questions to structured answers. It focuses on legal context, statutory transitions, and source-grounded explanations instead of giving generic chatbot replies.

One of the most practical parts of the product is drafting support. LAWgic can help generate outlines and templates for common legal documents, which reduces the amount of manual formatting and repetitive work required for routine tasks.
3. Legal Transition Guidance
India's shift from IPC to BNS, CrPC to BNSS, and the Evidence Act to BSA creates a real need for translation between old and new terminology. LAWgic organizes those transitions so users can understand how the legal landscape has changed without having to mentally map every term themselves.
